Nine Men's Morris online

How to play

1. The board has 24 points on three squares joined by lines.
2. Each player first places nine pieces, then slides them along a line to an adjacent empty point.
3. Closing a mill — three in a row — removes one enemy piece.
4. A piece inside a mill is protected unless every enemy piece is in one.
5. Down to three pieces you may jump anywhere. Below three, or with no legal move, you lose.

Strategy

• The four-way junctions are the most valuable — more lines and more moves run through them.
• Do not rush to close a mill. Build two half-mills and close them when you have a choice.
• The double mill is the strongest structure in the game. Hold one and you take a piece every turn.
• Take the pieces that give your opponent mobility, not the nearest ones. A player who cannot move has lost.
