Four tokens home, and rivals back to the start

Ludo online

Play Ludo online with two to four players. Get four tokens out of the yard, around the board and home. No download, no sign-up.

The die deals, but it does not decide. What decides is when to take the risk: a token on an open square advances fastest and is also the easiest to send back to the start.

How to play

  1. Each player has four tokens in the yard and runs them around the track into their home column.
  2. Only a six brings a token out of the yard. A six also grants another roll.
  3. Landing on an opponent sends that token back to its yard — and earns you another roll. Bringing a token home earns one too.
  4. Start squares and stars are safe. Nothing is captured there and tokens share the square.
  5. You must roll exactly to finish. First to get all four tokens home wins.

Strategy

  • A six does not have to mean a new token. Sometimes the one nearly home deserves it more.
  • A token within six squares ahead of an opponent is in danger. Seven or more is safe for now.
  • Bringing all four out early sounds strong but splits your attention. Two tokens ahead usually beat four scattered.
  • With four players, watch who is closest to home — hitting the leader is worth more than hitting anyone else.

Frequently asked

How many players?

Two to four. With two you sit opposite each other, so neither always has the other at their back.

Do two tokens block a square?

No. There are many local variants and the one without blocks is the most widespread — and it never turns the game into waiting for a six forever.

What if I roll three sixes in a row?

The turn ends. Without that rule you could keep going round indefinitely.
